Green bananas are packed with fibre, pre-biotics, and probiotics, all of which help with digestion. In terms of taste, green bananas are a little less sweet than their yellow counterpart. Regarding texture, they have been described as a little waxy whilst composition wise, green bananas are higher in starch. Green bananas contain a high amount of resistant starch and pectin, which have been linked to several health benefits. As bananas ripen, most of the starches are turned into sugar.
STORAGE ADVICE
To ensure the optimal freshness and ripening of green bananas, it is essential to store them correctly. Keep green bananas at room temperature until they reach the desired ripeness. However, if you want to slow down the ripening process, store them in the refrigerator. The cold temperature will slow the enzymatic activity that causes bananas to ripen. Avoid placing green bananas near other fruits, as some fruits release ethylene gas, which can accelerate the ripening of bananas. Additionally, it’s advisable to keep bananas in a ventilated space to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to premature spoilage. Your item will arrive in a 100% recycled box lovingly packed with FSC-certified shredded spruce from Britain and Sweden, natural sheep’s wool insulation and non-toxic chilled gel packs, all of which can be reused, composted or recycled. To recycle the gel packs, simply cut a corner and dispose of the contents through your normal domestic waste system, as the gel isn’t harmful to the environment. Better still, reuse them by storing in the freezer and chilling other products. The only component from our packaging that can’t be recycled are the foil liners which need to be go in household waste; the poly bags meat comes in needs to go in plastic recycling.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Recipe for green banana fries
Ingredients
5 small unripe (green) bananas
Salt to taste
Oil, as needed
Directions
Step 1
Peel the bananas using a knife, as they are not ripe and will not peel like a yellow banana. Slice into long thin wedges or strings to make fries.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a heavy deep skillet over medium-high heat. If you have a deep-fryer, heat the oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Place the banana fries into the hot oil, and fry until golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oil, and drain on paper towels. Pat off the excess oil, and season with salt. Serve immediately.
